Being a parent is not only about responsibilities, it is primarily about relationships. This was the focus of the "Positive Parenting" educational training, initiated by psychologists from the mobile teams. The programme was aimed at developing parenting skills through dialogue, reflection and mutual support.
During the course, participants had the opportunity to learn about modern approaches to parenting based on love, respect for the child and a deep understanding of his or her needs. These are not just lectures - they are sincere conversations about the most valuable things.
In addition to the important topics of discipline, emotional support and trust, parents were encouraged to rethink their role. They were taught to see their child as an individual who deserves acceptance and support. Together, they learned not only how to raise a child, but also how to grow together - in heart and mind.
One of the main values of the course was the atmosphere of mutual understanding. The participants learned that difficulties in parenting are not unique, that every family has its own challenges. However, it is through communication with like-minded people that we gain a sense of strength and confidence: we are not alone.
An important idea that runs through the course is the statement of the French psychoanalyst and paediatrician F. Dalteau: "We are not responsible for the child, but to the child." This approach helps adults to think more deeply about their own actions, learn to look at the situation through the eyes of a child, reassess their habits and build warmer, more trusting relationships.
The "Positive Parenting" training was part of a project implemented by the Charitable Foundation "Angels of Salvation" in partnership with HIAS Ukraine and with the support of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
