The last winter was cold, our town was under occupation. There was no firewood, so we sawed trees in the garden," says Iryna, a resident of Snihurivka.
The woman says that last winter the Russian military sold coal for a lot of money, so it was almost impossible to buy it, and there was no desire to do so.
"This winter you brought us a very good briquette! It burned for a long time and the whole house was warm, one bag was enough for 2-3 days. And when the briquette burned down, we scattered the ashes in the garden and we had fertiliser!" continues Iryna.
Winter is always a difficult period, especially for areas close to the frontline.
Thanks to our partners JERU (the association of international NGOs Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide) and funding from the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine, we were able to make winter preparations easier for the population!
